I began working in clay in 1979. For many years I maintained a production studio and staff, creating sculpted animal mask forms, and painted plates and bowls. I am thankful for the success of that work and that I was able to make my living, eventually acquiring my house and home studio in 1991 where I currently work. There is no end to the possibilities of working with clay and I continue to explore new directions. Working out design ideas and learning more about processes keeps me involved. I enjoy seeing an object take form. I love playing with the details to define the piece and give it personality. I have moved from depicting creatures in my designs to primarily botanical forms and spontaneous garden inspired rendered drawings on clay. I currently work in a mid-fired range, porcelain clay.
